16 Mar
Summary

- Fans shared a clip of his viral 2020 Golden Globes monologue.
- Gervais previously hosted the Golden Globes five times.
Ricky Gervais has firmly rejected any possibility of hosting the 2026 Oscars. The comedian responded to a fan's tweet, which encouraged reposts if users wished for Gervais to host, with a blunt "F*** that!" and a laughing-crying emoji. The tweet featured a clip of his widely praised 2020 Golden Globes opening monologue.
Gervais, known for his five-time tenure as Golden Globes host, frequently targeted Hollywood egos and 'woke' culture. While some perceived his roasts as brutal, he previously stated his on-stage persona was a calculated "marketing" strategy, not a true "loose cannon" act. The Academy Awards ceremony is set to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
