3 Nov
Summary
- Rick Ross's felony charge of battery by strangulation was dropped.
- A misdemeanor domestic violence charge still remains against the rapper.
- Ross pleaded not guilty to all charges and called allegations fabricated.

Prosecutors in Florida announced on October 29, 2026, that they have dropped a felony charge of battery by strangulation against rapper Rick Ross. The charge stemmed from allegations made by a live-in girlfriend on August 28, 2026. The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office cited insufficient evidence as the reason for dismissing the felony charge.
A misdemeanor charge of battery domestic violence, however, remains against the 50-year-old artist, whose real name is William Roberts II. Ross has entered a plea of not guilty to all charges. His attorney, Steve Sadow, stated that Ross is being wrongfully accused and emphasized that the accuser did not file a police report until a month after the alleged incident.
Ross maintained his innocence after posting bond and being released. He described the allegations as fabricated to reporters outside the courthouse. The accuser alleged that Ross became enraged over an Instagram photo, leading to physical altercations including slapping, striking, and choking.
