The current season of Rick and Morty, Season 9, is generating significant buzz, with episodes cleverly incorporating long-standing fan debates. The identity of the original Beth, whether it's the Earth-bound Beth or the space-faring Space Beth, remains a central point of intrigue.
A recent episode, "Rick Fu Hustle," which aired as part of the 2026 TV schedule, included a humorous moment where Rick, suffering from an "Amnesia Knuckle Punch," admitted he doesn't know which Beth is the original. This joke further fuels speculation among fans and acknowledges the show's creators have yet to definitively resolve the mystery.
Speculation and theories regarding the Beth/Space Beth dichotomy persist. Some fans, including the article's author, propose that Space Beth is the clone. Evidence cited includes early mentions in the "Pocket Mortys" game and subtle visual differences between the two characters, with "Earth Beth" appearing more stylistically consistent with earlier seasons.
Regardless of the eventual reveal, the show's handling of this ambiguity is a testament to its engaging storytelling. New episodes of Rick and Morty continue to air on Adult Swim on Sundays at 11:00 p.m. ET, with the current season being hailed as one of the show's strongest in years.
