Richard Hammond, known for his work on Top Gear, is auctioning four cars from his private collection on February 21st at Race Retro. The vehicles offer enthusiasts a chance to acquire a piece of automotive and television history.
The collection includes a 1979 Ford Escort RS2000 Mk2, recently restored by Hammond's own workshop, The Smallest Cog. This car is estimated to fetch between £25,000 and £30,000 and comes with extensive documentation and a signed Corgi replica.
Also featured is a rare 1933 Riley 14/6 Alpine Sports Tourer, a respected pre-war model with limited production numbers. Purchased by Hammond in 2019, it is estimated to sell for £18,000 to £24,000.
The auction also includes a 1972 MG B GT race car, the last vehicle Hammond drove on Top Gear, converted into a competition racer. This unique piece of television memorabilia is expected to bring in £15,000 to £20,000.
Finally, a 2006 Mini Cooper S, nicknamed 'Stanley', which was part of a DriveTribe project involving Hammond's daughter, is up for grabs. This track-day modified Mini is estimated at £10,000 to £15,000.
