RGV: Dhurandhar's Realism Outshines Toxic

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has once again praised the spy franchise 'Dhurandhar,' highlighting its realistic character portrayals. This comes as the Yash-starrer 'Toxic' has faced challenges at the box office, failing to reach the Rs 300 crore mark. Varma noted that 'Dhurandhar's strength lies in its depiction of believable characters, stating they feel as real as the audience members watching them.

Varma compared 'Dhurandhar's approach to his own 1998 film 'Satya,' suggesting the franchise takes realism to a new level. He criticized contemporary big-budget productions for not investing in making their films appear authentic, unlike historical examples like 'Titanic.' Varma also commended 'Dhurandhar' for not treating its lead character as an infallible idol, allowing for flaws and less screen dominance.

Furthermore, Varma defended the violent scenes in 'Dhurandhar,' emphasizing their narrative consequence and impact on characters. He argued that 'Dhurandhar' fosters audience connection through character development, rather than superficial elements like looks or catchphrases. The 'Dhurandhar' franchise has now achieved the distinction of being the highest-grossing Indian franchise globally, with both films collectively earning over Rs 3,000 crore.
