13 Mar
Summary
- Ram Gopal Varma hired Raju, a veteran action director known for Chiranjeevi films.
- The director demanded more realism, rejecting an elaborate fight scene.
- RGV dismissed the action director for not adhering to his vision.

During the Red Lorry Film Festival 2026, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma shared an entertaining anecdote from the production of his 1990 film, Shiva. Varma explained how he dismissed the film's veteran action director, Raju, who was accustomed to working on Chiranjeevi's movies.
Varma envisioned a simple scene where the protagonist is attacked while walking home. However, Raju master proposed a complex action sequence involving eight burning tires, multiple bikes, and a jeep. Varma rejected this elaborate spectacle, stating it was unsuitable for the realistic tone of Shiva.
When Raju master insisted on his methods, citing his extensive experience, Varma stood firm. He told the action director to implement his ideas in a Chiranjeevi film instead, asserting his creative control and ultimately dismissing Raju to execute the scene himself.
