RGV Apologizes to Chiranjeevi, Celebrates 'Shiva' Legacy

In November 2025, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is gearing up for the re-release of his 1989 cult classic 'Shiva', starring Nagarjuna. Ahead of the event, Varma has issued an apology to veteran Telugu actor Chiranjeevi, thanking him for his "large-heartedness".

Varma's outspoken nature and controversial social media posts have often stirred debate, with some even directed at Chiranjeevi in the past. However, the director has now expressed regret for any unintentional offense caused to the megastar.

The re-release of 'Shiva' is accompanied by a special documentary titled 'The Punch of Shiva', featuring respected actors and directors like Chiranjeevi, Mani Ratnam, SS Rajamouli, and Prabhas. Chiranjeevi captured the film's historical significance, stating that Telugu cinema is divided into "before 'Shiva' and after 'Shiva'". He expressed excitement about the film's digital-era release, calling it a "timeless film".

On the work front, Chiranjeevi was last seen in the 2023 film 'Bhola Shankar', which underperformed at the box office. He is currently working on 'Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu' and the VFX-heavy 'Vishwambhara', scheduled for 2026 release. Ram Gopal Varma, on the other hand, is shooting for his next project, a horror film titled 'Police Station Mein Bhoot', starring Manoj Bajpayee, Genelia Deshmukh, and Ramya Krishnan.
