Retired Couple Chooses Commitment Over Engagement on The Golden Bachelor
13 Nov
Summary
- Mel Owens and Peg Munson committed to each other, rather than getting engaged
- Owens' sons approved of Munson, saying she brings him "uplifting energy"
- Couple plans to travel and focus on their relationship, not rushing into marriage

In November 2025, Mel Owens, the second Golden Bachelor, concluded his search for love by committing to Peg Munson rather than proposing. During the season finale, which aired four months ago, Owens selected a 3.5-carat ring for Munson but expressed his desire to take their relationship one step at a time.
"This represents our commitment to love, to give us time to figure out together what our future holds," Owens told Munson as he presented her with the ring. Owens' sons were supportive of the decision, stating that Munson's "uplifting energy" was perfect for their father.
The couple has continued to grow their connection since the finale, with Munson explaining that they are "in love" and excited to share their relationship publicly. Owens echoed this sentiment, saying their bond has progressed "very, very well" over the past few months.
Rather than rushing into an engagement or marriage, Owens and Munson plan to focus on the present, with upcoming trips to Owens' hometown in Michigan, as well as visits to Las Vegas and Napa Valley. They are also looking forward to attending the upcoming Super Bowl together.
"You know what's nice about being in your 60s and going through life, you get to write your own love story -- and we're on the same page," Munson said, expressing their desire to continue growing their love at their own pace.
