RetcH Returns to Darker Sound with FTW 2

After a four-year absence, New Jersey rapper RetcH has released 'Finesse the World 2' (FTW 2), marking a return to his signature darker sound. His hiatus was a period of navigating legal entanglements and enjoying newfound freedom, leading to a shifted perspective on his craft.

RetcH describes his break as a time for "running around enjoying life" after resolving probation violations stemming from a California gun charge. This period also involved addressing ongoing legal matters, which impacted his outlook on his career and the music industry.

The new album, FTW 2, deliberately channels the sinister tone that characterized his 2015 release, 'Finesse the World.' RetcH views this choice as returning to the "real s--t" that influences hip-hop, emphasizing artistic integrity and creating immersive sonic experiences for his audience.

RetcH detailed his creative process, noting his use of the Notes app for songwriting and a collaborative approach with producers like G LOK, who contributed to the new track "Point Guard." The accompanying music video for "Point Guard" was filmed in Harlem, incorporating basketball and street references that echo the song's themes.

He also discussed his past influences, citing artists like Koopsta Knicca, Eminem, Stack Bundles, and Nas, whose work inspired him to create worlds within his music.
