This significant restoration, completed from the 35mm original picture negative, preserves the film's original visual quality for its 50th anniversary.
Worldwide distribution rights for the restored drama have been acquired by Potential Films, an independent Australian distributor. "Caddie" is recognized as a key film of Australia's New Wave and depicts the resilience of an abandoned housewife in 1925 Sydney, as she navigates societal challenges and builds a new life. The film originally achieved domestic box office success and garnered awards for Helen Morse.
"Caddie" is being showcased at the Lumière Film Festival in Lyon, France, as part of its International Classic Film Market (MIFC) and the Re>Birth Programme. This initiative aims to connect classic films with new distributors and buyers. Potential Films is exploring various distribution avenues, including theatrical releases in Australia and New Zealand, as well as television and streaming opportunities globally.
