Summary
- Journalist investigates killings linked to a shadowy outsourcing firm.
- Film explores paranoia and exploitation of remote workers.
- Mikhail Red directs, Anne Curtis stars in the thriller.

Philippine filmmaker Mikhail Red will direct "Remote," a new paranoia thriller featuring Anne Curtis. The film is set to begin production later this year, produced by Evolve Studios and Viva Films.
Curtis portrays Violet Olvido, a journalist investigating killings tied to a mysterious international outsourcing company. As she infiltrates the organization, her grasp on reality deteriorates.
Red stated the film is inspired by the post-pandemic rise of remote workers, particularly virtual assistants in the Philippines. He noted their vulnerability to exploitation due to legal gray areas and high pay from exchange rates. The film questions control and the 'colonization of consciousness.'
"Remote" marks Red's return to the genre thriller territory of his early career, focusing on psychological horror. It reunites him with Evolve Studios, where he serves as chief creative officer, and Viva Films, a co-producer of the record-breaking Filipino horror film "Deleter." Curtis, a prominent star, most recently appeared in "The Loved One."
