Ex-Couple's Bitter Divorce Texts Revealed

Kayla Reid has shared text messages detailing her shock upon discovering that her friend, Molly Gillihan, was dating her estranged husband, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte. The texts, exchanged around June 2025, show a bitter confrontation between Reid and Gillihan. Reid felt betrayed, especially as Gillihan had offered her support during the difficult divorce process which officially began on March 26, 2025.

Gillihan, in her own statement, claims she was contacted by Lochte in 2019 while he was still married, but she made it clear she was not interested. She insists Lochte only reached out again in 2025 after divorce proceedings had started and he was living independently. Gillihan expressed hesitation in dating Lochte due to his past actions but has since relocated with him to Missouri, where he teaches swimming.

Lochte has acknowledged struggling with infidelity and substance abuse during his marriage to Reid. He and Gillihan's anniversary is April 9. Lochte proposed to Gillihan in June 2025 and they plan to marry after finalizing his divorce from Reid in early July 2025. Reid, based in Gainesville, Florida, has primary custody of their three children.
