Regal Cinemas is set to host its second annual "Month of Masterpieces" throughout September, presenting a curated selection of classic films. This year's showcase features guest curators Chloe Zhao, Edgar Wright, Gina Prince-Bythewood, and Rian Johnson, four acclaimed filmmakers who have each selected five films that have significantly influenced their careers.
The diverse film list includes everything from Studio Ghibli's "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind" and George Lucas' "American Graffiti" to Hollywood classics like "Braveheart" and "Blade Runner." Alongside these curated picks, other beloved movies such as "Stuart Little" and "Babe" will also be screened.
"Month of Masterpieces" aims to celebrate films that inspired a love for cinema, offering audiences the unique opportunity to see them on the big screen. "We wanted to celebrate the films that remind us why we fell in love with movies in the first place," stated Brooks LeBoeuf, Senior Vice President of US Content at Regal. The special ticket price for all classic film screenings during September is $7.99 at all Regal locations nationwide.
Filmmaker selections highlight their inspirations, with Zhao choosing anime and Westerns, Johnson focusing on joyful audience-pleasers, Prince-Bythewood selecting films centered on characters fighting for something significant, and Wright presenting a mix of thrilling, funny, and magical movies. This event provides a rare glimpse into the cinematic influences of today's distinctive storytellers.
