Page departed Bridgerton in April 2021, shortly after the show's premiere, despite the immense popularity of his character. This decision surprised many viewers who had grown fond of his portrayal of Simon Basset. Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell recently addressed speculation about Page's potential return, assuring fans that the role of the Duke of Hastings will not be recast.
