Microdrama platform ReelShort has partnered with Korean studio Showbox to co-produce original short-form dramas for global distribution. This collaboration, announced as of June 15, 2026, will see Showbox co-produce content based on ReelShort's existing popular intellectual properties. The partnership also intends to encompass original short-form content developed by Showbox, further expanding the content pipeline.
Content generated from this agreement will be exclusively available on ReelShort, introducing Korean storytelling to its extensive international user base. Initial microdrama titles slated for release include 'Tell Me Not To Love You,' 'My Secret Lover Is His Brother,' and 'Queen Never Cry.' This move marks Showbox's accelerated expansion into the global short-form drama market, building on its initial forays in late 2025 with productions like 'Bridal Shower: The Missing Bride.'
Showbox highlighted that combining ReelShort's global reach with its own content development prowess will yield high-quality short-form dramas across various genres. The company, which has had a successful year with theatrical releases like 'The King's Warden,' views this partnership as a key opportunity to achieve new global successes and enhance its content competitiveness.
ReelShort, founded in 2022 by Crazy Maple Studio, reaches over 70 million monthly active users in more than 100 countries. The platform recently secured a distribution deal with Thai telco AIS, marking its first venture into Southeast Asia distribution.
