The sequel to Casey McQuiston's acclaimed 2019 novel, "Red, White & Royal Blue," is officially in the works, with filming expected to begin in 2026. This continuation of the popular LGBTQ+ romance will see the return of actors Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine as Alex and Prince Henry, respectively.
The screenplay is a collaborative effort, with Matthew López, the writer and director of the first film, returning to co-write alongside Gemma Burgess and McQuiston himself. Babbit is set to direct the upcoming installment, taking over from López.
The original "Red, White & Royal Blue" followed the blossoming romance between Alex, the son of the U.S. President, and Prince Henry of the UK. Their initial animosity transformed into a secret love affair, challenging international relations and political careers.
