Established in 2019, the festival is a key element of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 strategy to diversify its economy and become a global film hub. The Red Sea Fund and Red Sea Labs will continue to operate, and Jeddah's Culture Square will launch year-round film programming in November.
This pause presents challenges for Arab films awaiting regional premieres, with festivals in Marrakech, Doha, El Gouna, and Cairo potentially accommodating these titles.
