Lee Child has revealed that Maria Sten's exceptional performance as Frances Neagley was the sole catalyst for the character's spin-off series on Prime Video. Child explained that Sten's portrayal significantly altered his own connection to the character, making her feel distinct and demanding further exploration.
Originally conceived as a narrative device to externalize Reacher's thoughts, Neagley's role was revitalized by Sten. Her performance 'stole the character' and pushed her beyond a mere exposition tool, compellingly advocating for her own series.
The dedicated Neagley spin-off series premiered on September 16, 2026. Additionally, Lee Child is co-writing the first Frances Neagley novel, 'Zero Margin', with Yasmin Angoe, slated for a spring 2027 release.
