Ravikumar reveals why his Dhanush movie never happened
2 May
Summary
- A Dhanush-Ravikumar film was shelved due to financial issues.
- A Vijay film's poor performance led to a financial crisis.
- The shelved film had a photoshoot with Dhanush in multiple looks.

Director K. S. Ravikumar recently shared the surprising reason behind a shelved film project with actor Dhanush. The film, which had already begun pre-production with a pooja ceremony attended by Kamal Haasan and featured Dhanush in various looks during a photoshoot, was abruptly halted.
The production faced an unexpected financial crisis when a Vijay film, also produced by Pyramid Natarajan, did not perform well at the box office. This led to the shelving of the planned project with Dhanush, despite the script by Ramesh Khanna being ready and actor's schedule being coordinated.
Although this particular collaboration did not materialize, K. S. Ravikumar and Dhanush have since reunited on screen. They previously worked together on 'Thangamagan' and most recently, have celebrated the success of the action-thriller 'Kara,' directed by Vignesh Raja, which was released on April 30, 2026.
