Summary
- Raveena Tandon was first choice for 'Darr' but declined due to uncomfortable scenes
- She also rejected 'Prem Qaidi' over a scene with a zipper
- Raveena was "a little uppity" but never arrogant, had her own boundaries

In a recent interview, Bollywood star Raveena Tandon has revealed that she was the first choice for Yash Chopra's 1993 psychological thriller 'Darr', which ultimately starred Juhi Chawla, Shah Rukh Khan, and Sunny Deol in the lead roles. Raveena shared that she had turned down several projects in her early years, including 'Darr' and 'Prem Qaidi', because she was uncomfortable with certain scenes or costumes.
Reflecting on her mindset at the time, Raveena admitted she was "a little uppity" but clarified she was never arrogant. "I wasn't snooty, but I had my own boundaries. I was always like how I am right now. That's why people treated me like one of the boys," she explained. Raveena was particularly uncomfortable with scenes involving proximity to people she didn't know well, such as wearing a swimming costume in 'Darr' or a scene where the hero pulls down a zipper in 'Prem Qaidi'.
Despite turning down these iconic films, Raveena went on to carve her own successful path in Bollywood, starring in hits like 'Mohra', 'Andaz Apna Apna', and 'Aks'. While 'Darr' became a defining film of the 1990s, remembered for Shah Rukh Khan's portrayal of an obsessive lover, Raveena's decision to stay true to her comfort zone has now been revealed as an intriguing part of her early career journey.
