Mavericks Tribute Raul Malo at Ryman

A poignant tribute concert, 'Dance the Night Away,' was held at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium to honor Raul Malo, the celebrated frontman of the Mavericks, who is currently battling an incurable form of brain cancer. The event saw numerous country, roots, and Latin artists come together to celebrate Malo's significant musical legacy and unique contributions to the genre.

During the three-hour show, Malo was posthumously awarded the American Eagle Award by the National Music Council of the United States. Chairman Charlie Saunders presented the award, recognizing Malo's "lifelong commitment to the preservation of the multilingual American music repertoire" and his advocacy for music education. Despite being unable to attend due to his health condition, Malo sent a heartfelt letter expressing his gratitude and the profound role music has played throughout his life.

The concert featured performances by various artists, including members of the Mavericks, who performed in Malo's stead.
