The Antarrashtriya Ram Katha Sangrahalaya in Ayodhya is set to acquire a rare, over 200-year-old manuscript of the Ramcharitmanas. The manuscript, written in the Nagari script, was donated by a resident of Ayodhya in response to the museum's appeal for rare Ramayan manuscripts.
This initiative aims to establish a national repository for preserving Ramayan manuscripts in Sanskrit and various Indian languages. The museum has received approval to establish a conservation center at the International Ram Katha Museum, facilitating the preservation, display, and research of these cultural artifacts.
Interim, scholars, traditional families, ashrams, libraries, universities, and private collectors nationwide have been invited to contribute original manuscripts. These can include regional versions, commentaries, ancillary texts, and illustrated manuscripts produced on palm leaf or paper, ensuring the safeguarding of India's rich cultural heritage.
