Summary
- Annotated shooting script for Die Hard
- Hand-drawn Halloween card from Harry Potter co-star Rupert Grint
- Rickman's habit of keeping detailed records of his film work
In November 2025, a trove of personal items belonging to the late actor Alan Rickman will be auctioned off by Propstore, a leading entertainment memorabilia firm. Rickman, who passed away in 2016, was known for his obsessive attention to detail, and this is reflected in the numerous annotated scripts and other film-related items from his personal collection that will be up for sale.
The most valuable lot is Rickman's collection from his film debut, the 1988 thriller Die Hard, in which he played the iconic villain Hans Gruber. This includes the shooting script with Rickman's handwritten notes and alternative dialogue suggestions, as well as a call sheet, press packs, and his invitation to the film's gala preview in London. A prop Treasury note from the same film is also being auctioned.
Rickman's work on the Harry Potter series, in which he played the memorable role of Severus Snape, is also represented. Items include a gold-plated pocket watch given to the cast and crew, Rickman's own set of Harry Potter novels, a Snape action figure, and a hand-drawn Halloween message from co-star Rupert Grint.
The auction also features items from other notable films in Rickman's career, such as the British ghost-romance Truly Madly Deeply, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Galaxy Quest, and Sense and Sensibility. Fans of the late actor will have a rare opportunity to own a piece of his legacy.
