A significant Buddhist relic, dating back to the 3rd century BC, was publicly displayed on January 16 at Lalitgiri, Odisha. This rare artifact was ceremonially brought out from its protected enclosure at the ASI Lalitgiri Museum.
The public viewing coincided with the second Guru Padmasambhava ceremony, an occasion dedicated to the revered Buddhist master. The ceremony included rituals, prayers, and meditation, reflecting on his teachings.
This initiative, a collaboration between the Archaeological Survey of India, the Department of Tourism, and the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture, underscores Odisha's deep connection to ancient Buddhist civilization. It reaffirmed Lalitgiri's prominence on the global Buddhist map.
