Psychic Teen's Visions Rock Psychologist's World

The psychological thriller "The Rapture," filmed in Wales, centers on Dr. Gabs Fox, a psychologist who has recently become a wheelchair user after a severe car accident that also claimed her husband's life. Returning to work at a psychiatric hospital, Gabs is assigned Bethany Krall, a 17-year-old inmate accused of brutally murdering her mother two years prior. Bethany, daughter of the charismatic leader of a spiritual movement, insists on her innocence and claims to have prophetic visions.

Bethany communicates these visions through disturbing sketches of impending disasters, which her nurse claims have a pattern of coming true. Gabs, initially skeptical and seeking a clinical explanation, becomes increasingly unsettled as Bethany's drawings seem to mirror unfolding events. This forces Gabs to re-evaluate her assumptions about Bethany's sanity and the true circumstances of the murder.

With the help of journalist Dick Carwyn and engineer Frasier Melville, Gabs investigates the Krall family history. The series, set during a heatwave, explores themes of climate anxiety, grief, corruption, and the nature of faith. It questions whether Bethany is a manipulative teenager or a genuine prophet, as the power dynamic between the two women intensifies, leaving audiences to question what to believe.
