Summary
- Ranveer Singh declined 'Kabir Singh' citing its excessively dark script.
- He also passed on 'Sam Bahadur' to avoid two biographical roles consecutively.
- Ranveer felt uncomfortable with explicit scenes in 'Shaitan'.

Ranveer Singh, currently celebrating the success of his films 'Dhurandhar' and its sequel, has a history of passing on projects that later achieved significant success. Singh was initially approached for the lead role in 'Kabir Singh'. However, he rejected the film, deeming the script too dark for his comfort. Shahid Kapoor eventually took on the role, making it a blockbuster hit.
Another major project Singh declined was 'Sam Bahadur', the biopic of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Having recently portrayed Kapil Dev in '83', Singh did not wish to immediately take on another biographical role. Vicky Kaushal ultimately starred as the titular character in the critically acclaimed film.
Furthermore, Singh also turned down a role in Bejoy Nambiar's thriller 'Shaitan'. Reports indicate his discomfort with the film's explicit scenes was the primary reason for his refusal. Gulshan Devaiah later played the character. Singh was also considered for Anurag Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet', but budget escalations prevented his involvement, with Ranbir Kapoor eventually taking the lead. Another film, which went on to be a major commercial success, was also rejected by Singh before it was offered to Ranbir Kapoor.
