After a seven-year wait, the cinematic adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayana is officially moving forward, with the first look of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama revealed. The highly anticipated film is scheduled for a grand release during Diwali 2026, with its sequel expected in 2027. Director Nitesh Tiwari expressed his long-held vision for the project, stating it took him seven years to reach this point.
The unveiling occurred at multi-city events, including a launch in Mumbai attended by director Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra. Ranbir Kapoor, who portrays Rama, was not present at the Mumbai event. His wife, Alia Bhatt, shared his first look on social media, announcing the planned release dates.
Producer Namit Malhotra of VFX studio DNEG highlighted the immense effort invested, calling it a "labour of love." The film's first look was also launched at separate events in Los Angeles and New York, where footage was shown to international media and film industry members, receiving positive feedback. The cast also includes Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, and Ravie Dubey.
