The makers of Ranabaali, a period action drama, revealed the film's title and worldwide release date on Republic Day. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan and featuring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, the film is set for release on September 11.
The initial glimpse depicts the severe impact of British rule in India, focusing on regions subjected to drought zones by officials like Sir Richard Temple. It highlights events described as genocide and economic exploitation.
Vijay Deverakonda portrays Ranabaali in a fierce new avatar, while Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma. Arnold Vosloo is cast as the antagonist, Sir Theodore Hector.
Ranabaali draws inspiration from real events between 1854 and 1878, focusing on lesser-known historical incidents. The filmmakers emphasize it is a cinematic reconstruction, not a biopic.
This marks the third collaboration for Deverakonda and Mandanna, and Deverakonda's reunion with director Sankrityan after Taxiwaala.
