Star-Studded Ramones Tribute Coming to LA

A special 50th-anniversary tribute to the pioneering punk band The Ramones is scheduled for August 30 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. This celebration marks half a century since the release of their self-titled debut album. The event will be hosted by actor John Travolta and will feature a unique performance by the Cretin Family supergroup. This supergroup boasts Tim Armstrong of Rancid, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Travis Barker of Blink-182, and CJ Ramone, formerly of The Ramones, alongside surprise guests. Their debut album, released on April 23, 1976, is credited with igniting the global punk revolution with its distinctive sound and influential tracks. The Ramones' raw energy and concise songs provided a counterpoint to the era's dominant rock genres, influencing countless musicians. The evening will also include screenings of 'Carrie' and 'Propeller One-Way Night Coach,' a DJ set by Shepard Fairey, and benefit the David Agus MD Cancer Research at Ellison Institute. Additional commemorative releases from Rhino Records are also planned.
