A new Rambo prequel, titled John Rambo, is currently underway, featuring Noah Centineo in the titular role. This film will delve into the character's life before the events of the 1982 classic, First Blood. Sylvester Stallone, the original Rambo, has officially joined the production as an executive producer, sharing his support via Instagram.
Filming for John Rambo, directed by Jalmari Helander, reportedly began in Bangkok in January. Stallone's involvement signifies a continued connection to a character he has portrayed five times, most recently in 2019's Last Blood. The prequel aims to showcase Rambo's origins, with Stallone having previously envisioned him as a well-adjusted young man before his military service.
While Stallone previously considered Ryan Gosling to take over the role, the production has moved forward with Centineo. The release date for John Rambo has yet to be announced, but Stallone's executive producer role is expected to benefit the creative process.
