A preliminary version of Ramayana: Part I was recently screened for a select group in Los Angeles, offering an early look at the grand production. Initial audience responses were reportedly very favorable, highlighting the film's impressive scale, visual effects, and narrative. This screening served as a test, with feedback expected to shape the final edit.
The ambitious project, reportedly backed by a Rs 4,000 crore investment from producer Namit Malhotra, is being developed as a two-part series. Malhotra has described the endeavor as a monumental and almost inexplicable undertaking. The first part is scheduled for a Diwali release this year, with the second installment anticipated for Diwali next year.
The Ramayana series boasts a star-studded cast, including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, with Yash portraying Ravan and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, an official character launch event is planned for April in Mumbai.
