Nitesh Tiwari's cinematic adaptation of the Ramayana is assembling an epic cast for its multi-film release. Ranbir Kapoor will lead as Lord Ram, also portraying Lord Parshuram. Sai Pallavi takes on the role of Sita, marking her significant Hindi cinema debut. The formidable villain Ravana will be played by Yash, who reportedly negotiated a 150 crore rupee fee for the role.
Further casting includes Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana. Amitabh Bachchan lends his voice to Jatayu and serves as the narrator. Arun Govil, who previously played Ram, will now be King Dasharatha, adding a nostalgic touch.
Lara Dutta is Queen Kaikeyi, Faisal Malik portrays Kumbhakarna, and Rakul Preet Singh is Shurpanakha. This grand narrative will unfold over three distinct films, with the first focusing on Ram's early life and marriage. The subsequent parts will detail Sita's abduction and the ultimate battle.
The first installment is scheduled for release in IMAX in Diwali 2026, with the second part following in Diwali 2027. The production involves extensive visual effects to bring mythical elements to life.
