Ramayana Booking Delayed: Revenue Split Sparks Tussle
20 Oct
Summary
- Advance booking for Ramayana has not opened as scheduled.
- Distributors demand a higher revenue share for the first week.
- Exhibitors are hesitant to agree to the new revenue-sharing terms.

The advance booking for the film Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi, has been delayed. While bookings were expected to commence today, October 20, on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, they have not yet opened across most cinemas nationwide.
Reports indicate a dispute over revenue-sharing terms between distributors and exhibitors is causing the delay. Distributors are allegedly demanding a 60% share of the revenue in the first week, 50% in the second, and 40% in the third. These terms are considerably higher than the typical percentages applied to major film releases.
Exhibitors have expressed concerns and are hesitant to agree to these increased demands, leading to ongoing negotiations. The successful grand-scale release of Ramayana hinges on both parties reaching a mutually agreeable commercial consensus.
As of 9:30 am, only a few select cinemas, including INOX Korum Mall in Thane and AMB Cinemas Kapali in Bengaluru, have begun advance bookings. The film is slated for a worldwide release on November 5.
