Rajpal Yadav: Nawazuddin's 'noble' words from jail recall theatre days
22 Feb
Summary
- Rajpal Yadav recalled Nawazuddin Siddiqui's past praise from Tihar Jail.
- Nawazuddin once called Rajpal's home a 'langar' for struggling actors.
- Rajpal also acknowledged support from Salman Khan and others.

While lodged in Tihar Jail earlier this month, actor Rajpal Yadav recalled kind words spoken about him by fellow actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui. In a resurfaced interview, Siddiqui had described Yadav's home as a 'langar' for aspiring actors, a place where food was always available. Yadav addressed these remarks, attributing the credit to Siddiqui's nobility and emphasizing their shared experiences rather than personal generosity.
Their bond stems from their early theatre days at Bharatendu Natya Academy and the National School of Drama. Yadav also spoke about the substantial support he received from the film fraternity during a difficult phase. Prominent figures such as Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Sonu Sood offered financial assistance, support Yadav deeply appreciated and acknowledged as long-standing, not recent.
Yadav was released from Tihar Jail on February 17, following a Rs 9-crore cheque-bounce case. He had surrendered on February 5 after his plea for more time to repay the amount was rejected by the Delhi High Court. The court later suspended his sentence until March 18, providing temporary relief.
