Actor Rajpal Yadav has paid Rs 2.5 crore towards his Rs 9 crore debt in a cheque bounce case. The Delhi High Court recently remanded him to jail until Monday, adjourning the hearing on his interim bail petition. Yadav had surrendered at Delhi's Tihar Jail on February 5 after his plea for more time was rejected.
The case involves a Rs 5 crore debt that escalated to approximately Rs 9 crore due to interest and penalties, stemming from his 2012 directorial debut film, "Ata Pata Laapata." The court had previously directed Yadav to pay Rs 1.35 crore in each of the seven cases against him. As of October 2025, two demand drafts totaling Rs 75 lakh were deposited, leaving Rs 9 crore outstanding.
According to his manager, Rajpal Yadav has received financial assistance from notable Bollywood figures such as Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Sonu Sood. His lawyer confirmed that Rs 2.5 crore out of the Rs 5 crore initial amount has been paid, and negotiations are ongoing regarding the 2012 agreement. The court is expected to decide on his bail on Monday.
