Actor Rajpal Yadav gets temporary sentence relief for wedding
16 Feb
Summary
- Actor Rajpal Yadav received temporary bail from Delhi High Court.
- The bail is to allow attendance at a family wedding on February 19.
- Next hearing is set for March 18, 2026, regarding the Rs. 9 crore case.

The Delhi High Court has granted a temporary suspension of sentence to veteran Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav in a Rs. 9 crore cheque bounce case. This reprieve allows Yadav to attend a family wedding scheduled for February 19, 2026. However, the bail is temporary and does not acquit him of the charges.
Yadav is required to be present, either physically or virtually, for the next significant hearing slated for March 18, 2026. The case originates from a Rs. 5 crore loan taken in 2010 for his directorial debut, which failed to recoup costs, leading to an inability to repay the loan.
Over the years, accumulated interest and penalties reportedly increased the outstanding sum to nearly Rs. 9 crore. After multiple adjournments for settlement discussions, the court observed a lack of sincere efforts to clear the liability, leading Yadav to surrender on February 5, 2026, and return to Tihar Jail.
Recent developments indicate that approximately Rs. 1.5 crore has been deposited towards the dues as of mid-February 2026. The court's priority remains the complainant's restitution, with specific directives on payment methods to ensure immediate fund realization.
