18 Feb
Summary
- Actor Rajpal Yadav was released on interim bail on February 17.
- The case involves a cheque bounce and debt totaling approximately ₹9 crore.
- A businessman alleged Yadav borrowed ₹5 crore for a film that failed.

Actor Rajpal Yadav was released from Tihar Jail on interim bail on February 17, concluding a chapter in a decade-long legal battle over a cheque bounce and debt totaling approximately ₹9 crore. The dispute began in 2012 when businessman Madhav Gopal Agrawal lent ₹5 crore for Yadav's directorial film, 'Ata Pata Laapata.'
Agrawal has stated that the loan, with personal guarantees and post-dated cheques, was not repaid after the film's commercial failure. Despite multiple agreements and dishonoured cheques, the matter persisted, with a settlement figure of ₹10.40 crore agreed upon by 2013. Yadav surrendered earlier this month and secured bail until his next court hearing on March 18.
