Rajat Bedi's remarkable journey from assisting on a Shah Rukh Khan film to becoming a Gladrags Manhunt winner in 1994 has been brought back into the limelight by the recent success of the web series "The Ba***ds Of Bollywood".
In an exclusive interview, Bedi recounts his path to fame, starting with his work as an assistant on the 1995 film "Zamaana Deewana" and a TV show. Bedi then decided to try his hand at modeling, leading him to the Gladrags Manhunt contest in 1994. Despite feeling he had no chance of winning, Bedi emerged victorious, becoming the top male model in the country that year.
Interestingly, 1994 proved to be a landmark year for Bedi, as it was also the same year that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sushmita Sen won the Miss World and Miss Universe titles, respectively. Bedi and the two beauty queens were celebrated globally for their achievements.
Bedi's success in the Gladrags contest led to film offers, and he was almost launched in a project called "Rajkumar" alongside Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit. However, the film never materialized due to a fallout between the producers. Bedi's career then took a different turn, leading him to work on the 2001 film "2001: Do Hazaar Ek" with Tabu.
Now, 31 years later, Bedi feels that the present-day and his 1994 success have been equally magical periods in his life. The Ba***ds Of Bollywood has once again brought him into the limelight, rekindling the excitement and memories of his remarkable journey.
