Shakira's Hit Gets Rajasthani Folk Makeover

A captivating fusion of Shakira's global hit "Hips Don't Lie" and the traditional Rajasthani folk song "Moruda" is making waves online. Created by Langa artistes from Barmer and Jodhpur, the remix masterfully combines the original song's energy with the distinct sounds of khartaal and morchang, enhanced by hip-hop rhythms. This unique collaboration has quickly become a social media sensation.

The Langa group, led by Ismail Langa, drew inspiration from previous successful projects, including a Rajasthani version of "Waka Waka." The process of adapting English lyrics for the artistes, who are not fluent in the language, required extensive effort over two and a half months. Despite the linguistic challenges, the team successfully produced and filmed the song, which features traditional Rajasthani attire and scenic locations like Luni Palace and blue havelis in Jodhpur.

Ismail Langa expressed gratitude for the widespread positive reception, stating their commitment to music as their sole offering. The group, which previously gained recognition on "India's Got Talent" in 2018, has performed internationally in countries such as Singapore, Thailand, and Japan. Buoyed by the success of this latest fusion, they are preparing to work on new musical projects soon.
