The first look teaser for "Raja Shivaji," a historical action drama chronicling the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has been released by Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company. The film, which had a theatrical preview alongside "Dhurandhar: The Revenge," is now available digitally.
"Raja Shivaji" depicts the early life of Shivaji Bhonsale as he challenged powerful empires to establish the Maratha kingdom and the concept of "Swarajya" during a tumultuous era in Indian history. This production is notable for its large-scale treatment of a Marathi historical subject, aiming for a pan-India release.
Directed by and starring Riteish Vilasrao Deshmukh in the title role, the film boasts an ensemble cast from both Hindi and Marathi film industries. Notable actors include Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Mahesh Manjrekar, and many others. The musical score is by Ajay-Atul, with cinematography by Santosh Sivan, emphasizing high-octane action and detailed period world-building.
The film is set for a worldwide release on May 1, coinciding with Maharashtra Day, a state holiday. It will be available in Marathi, Hindi, and Telugu languages.
