The Marathi digital scene is experiencing a significant surge, culminating in the upcoming Rada festival on March 28-29. This event aims to be Maharashtra's foremost large-scale celebration, bringing together digital creators, musicians, comedians, and cultural voices. Organized by Bharatiya Digital Party (BhaDiPa), the festival bridges online interaction with live performance, reflecting the vibrant Marathi culture.
The festival's name, 'Rada,' a Marathi slang term for chaos, encapsulates the high-energy, anything-goes atmosphere celebrating Marathi culture's expanding reach. Co-founder Sarang Sathaye emphasizes the event's role in recognizing the audience's craving for authenticity and marking collective achievements since 'Sairat.'
Featuring a dynamic lineup, Rada will showcase DJ-producer Kratex, content creator Prajakta Koli (MostlySane), and hip-hop artists like Srushti Tawade and 100 RBH. The festival also highlights emerging hip-hop talent and artists blending traditional verse with modern sounds, such as Shreyas Sagvekar and Shubhangi Kedar.
BhaDiPa co-founder Paula McGlynn views Rada as a natural evolution for Marathi content, providing a vital shared stage for artists who are breaking barriers globally. Musician Avadhoot Gupte frames the festival within a larger cultural shift, anticipating experimental performances that embrace new forms of Marathi expression.
Comedy and creator culture are central, with performers like Yashraj Mukhate and Sahil Sheikh set to engage live audiences. Sheikh aptly describes the event as a "cultural explosion where raw talent meets crazy energy."
