The showcase is the capstone for the year-long DWW+ program, providing a platform for directors to debut their work to industry professionals. Guest artistic director Marie Jamora, an alumna of the program, mentored the cohort throughout their professional development and creative curriculum.
AFI has supported underrepresented artists for over 50 years through the DWW+ program. Susan Ruskin, Dean of the AFI Conservatory, emphasized Brunson's role in inspiring diverse voices and transforming the industry, making her an ideal speaker for this graduating class of filmmakers.
