- The film explores themes of nostalgia, freedom, and the immigrant experience.

Filmmakers Hansen Lin and Siyi Chen are developing a documentary about an Asian American senior ballroom community discovered in Flushing, Queens. What began as a serendipitous find during a film scouting mission has evolved into a project exploring the lives and preserved cultures of immigrants.
The documentary focuses on three main characters: Mary, a former judge; Aaron, a romantic hustler; and Jimmy, who seeks solace on the dance floor after loss. These individuals' stories highlight resilience and the search for connection.
Filmmakers describe the ballroom as a "time capsule" preserving a version of Chinese culture from the '90s and 2000s. It serves as a nostalgic reminder for immigrants who brought a piece of their past with them to the U.S.
The project, currently in late development, was recently pitched at the CPH:FORUM in Copenhagen seeking co-production partners and funds. The filmmakers aim to complete shooting with approximately 15 more days of filming.
