Indonesian filmmaker Angga Dwimas Sasongko is preparing "Queen of Malacca" for a first-quarter 2027 release. This ambitious Southeast Asian fantasy epic is currently in post-production and is attracting international distribution interest.
Sasongko has spent eight years developing the fantasy world, which integrates Southeast Asian martial arts, supernatural themes, and advanced visual effects. It is envisioned as a mosaic of modern life inspired by regional mythology and traditions.
"Queen of Malacca" serves as a cornerstone for Visinema's strategy to cultivate intellectual property with local roots and global reach. The company has five films planned for 2027.
Visinema is also building an animation pipeline extending to 2030. This includes a superhero action-comedy animated feature for 2028 and sequels to its successful family IP "Nussa" and animated hit "Jumbo."
International collaboration is key for Visinema, focusing on strategic partners who contribute market access and expertise, rather than solely capital. The company aims to deepen ties with partners in China, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
