Puneet Vashisht, known for his role as Ronnie in the 2000 film Josh, has shared insights into why his character's scenes were significantly reduced. Vashisht, who played a friend to Shah Rukh Khan's character, stated that his own vibrant energy in performances became a point of competition.

He recounted instances during filming where his energetic scene executions, like a higher jump than Khan's, reportedly drew focus away from the lead. Vashisht feels Mansoor Khan's direction led to his scenes being cut to maintain focus on Shah Rukh Khan's star power. He described Khan as a creative and energetic superstar, though he stopped short of calling him a great actor.

Vashisht also reflected on the film industry's evolving landscape regarding nepotism, suggesting that early "seeds of nepotism" were sown during his early career. He candidly discussed his own subsequent battles with depression and alcoholism, attributing them to his talent and confidence not being utilized effectively in the industry.

The actor, who also had roles in films like Taal and Fanaa, and appeared on television and in Bigg Boss 9, emphasized that despite the setbacks, he has found recovery and is now in a better place. He noted that Josh, despite the cuts, remains a cherished role from his youth.
