NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) has formalized a significant three-year strategic partnership with Italy's Apulia Film Commission and the Puglia region. The partnership builds upon a successful 2024 cultural exchange, evolving into a sustained bridge designed to elevate Apulian filmmakers globally. It formalizes reciprocal industry missions, coordinated artistic efforts, joint marketing, and shared best practices, strengthening creative and production links between Italy and California.
Initiated by journalist Silvia Bizio, the InFocus: Puglia project is curated by NFMLA's Larry Laboe and Bojana Sandic. The 2026 showcase will present a diverse range of short films, highlighting both emerging cinematic voices from Puglia and the region's appeal as a production destination. Notable films include 'Il generale' and 'Nonna Rivoltella'.
