On October 24th, 2025, the Latin music industry recognized Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny as the most important artist of the 21st century. During the Latin Billboard Music Awards ceremony, legendary actress Rita Moreno, who is also Puerto Rican, surprised Bad Bunny on stage to present him with the award for Top Latin Artist of the 21st Century.
Before handing over the award, Moreno reflected on her own experiences as a Latina in the industry, noting that when she started her career, "being Latino in the United States meant facing barriers" and that "opportunities were few, almost non-existent." However, she saw in Bad Bunny an artist who "brings the world to Latin culture with the same strength and passion" that kept her going.
Bad Bunny, the top nominee of the night with a historic 27 nods, humbly accepted the award, stating that he didn't know why he had been chosen over his colleagues. "For me, it's an honor to receive this award from your hands. I respect you and admire you so much," he told Moreno. The artist also acknowledged the hard work he and his team had put in to carve out a place for themselves in the industry.
