Project Hail Mary: India release delayed, IMAX bookings halt
25 Mar
Summary
- Project Hail Mary's India release is March 26, a week later than globally.
- IMAX ticket sales have not begun, causing significant fan disappointment.
- The film may share IMAX screens with 'Dhurandhar The Revenge' due to booking issues.

Project Hail Mary's release in India, scheduled for March 26, is accompanied by significant fan dissatisfaction due to the delayed commencement of ticket bookings. A primary concern is the absence of IMAX ticket sales, despite the film being designed for the IMAX experience. This delay means Project Hail Mary may have to share IMAX screens with the concurrently releasing Indian film, 'Dhurandhar The Revenge'.
The Hollywood film's release was postponed by a week in India to March 26 to preempt a clash with 'Dhurandhar The Revenge'. While advance sales have reached 25,000 tickets, the full potential is expected to be realized once IMAX bookings open. Reports indicate that only one IMAX property in India, Broadway Cinemas in Coimbatore, had opened bookings as of March 25.
Both Sony Pictures and exhibitors are reportedly working to resolve the screen allocation issues, with a resolution expected by Wednesday evening. The directors of Project Hail Mary, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, acknowledged the robust business of 'Dhurandhar The Revenge', expressing optimism for the health of the global movie business.
