Producer Marlo Miazga has launched M Media, a new IP-focused production company operating out of Toronto. Miazga's first project under this new venture is a feature documentary for CBC titled 'Ground Control.' This deeply personal film chronicles the devastating suicide of her 14-year-old son, Mars, in 2020, and the ensuing aftermath.
The documentary is being developed concurrently with a memoir of the same name, written by Miazga and journalist Katrina Onstad, which Random House Canada is set to publish on January 26, 2027. 'Ground Control,' directed by Chase Joynt, will begin production in October and is slated for delivery in Spring 2027. Funding for the project has been provided by Telefilm Canada's Theatrical Documentary Program, the Canada Media Fund's POV program, and the Roger Documentary Fund.
Miazga aims for 'Ground Control' to have a theatrical run in Canada, with worldwide rights being actively shopped. This venture marks a return to Miazga's entrepreneurial roots, having previously co-founded NewroadMedia in 2011 and worked at Bristow Global Media. She stated that M Media is founded on resilience, creativity, and ethical storytelling, and she is ready to tell 'the most important story of my life.'
