Summary
- Filmmaker Priyadarshan requested higher pay for actor Rajpal Yadav.
- Yadav faces a Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case and is in jail.
- The actor's earnings are being increased to help him financially.

Filmmaker Priyadarshan has intervened to support actor Rajpal Yadav, who is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail. Yadav is facing a prolonged Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case. Priyadarshan has requested the producers of his next film, which stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yadav, to increase Yadav's fee.
The producers have agreed to pay Yadav more than his standard charge, a decision motivated by his ongoing legal and financial challenges. Priyadarshan cited his two-decade-long professional relationship with Yadav, highlighting the actor's talent and integrity.
This support comes as Yadav surrendered to authorities after the Delhi High Court denied further extensions in the case. The actor's legal team stated he has already settled approximately Rs 2.5 crores of the disputed amount, with further court proceedings scheduled.
Priyadarshan expressed empathy, suggesting Yadav's financial troubles stemmed from a loan taken in 2010 for his directorial debut, which unfortunately underperformed at the box office, leading to escalating dues.
